The Outreach Committee is currently involved in a
number of activities and projects. As members of St. Andrew’s Church and
as the body of Christ, we are presented with a variety of options to help
others as God would have us do. You can choose a one-time event, an
ongoing project, or bring up something new. The choice is yours! We
welcome everyone to share their talents, passions and gifts.
Maybe
you have an idea for an outreach ministry, a passion or have a talent that
you’d like to share to help benefit others? Bring it up to anyone on the
Outreach Committee. Or, if you’d like to join an initiative already in
motion, we welcome the hands, hearts and minds! In light of our families,
busy schedules and work, our meetings are done via email.
What
our congregation is currently involved in and the initiative leaders for
that outreach:
Bucks Landing Food Pantry:
Sue
Manchon
Keep
your eyes and ears open for the item of the week! That would be the item
most requested by the food pantry that week. It will be in the bulletin
and posted on the bulletin board. There is always an ongoing need all
non-perishables, especially cereal, peanut butter, jelly, canned fruits
and veggies as well!
Grocery Gift Card Program:
Mike,
Diane, Lauren & Kaitlyn O'Connor
St.
Andrew's generous congregation helps a minimum of 20 families during the
holidays with $50 grocery gift cards to help provide their dinners. We
partnered with the Centennial School District. The social worker, Mr.
Chuck James identifies the families in need in the school system and
delivers the gift cards to them. We have a second collection during the
respective months to help fund this outreach. Anything collected over the
amount needed goes into the Pastor’s Discretionary fund to help those in
need year-round.
American Red Cross Blood
Drive:
Patti
Stone & Linda Vataha
Our
blood drives are scheduled every January, April, July and October. Roll up
your sleeves to save lives with us!
Ronald McDonald House:
Ruth
Miller-Negovan
We
collect aluminum pop tabs from soda cans, soup cans, etc. RMH sells these
tabs to a scrap metal dealer, turning them into cash to help run the
House.
Glasses for the
Masses:
Charlotte
Price
We
ask the congregation to donate old eye glasses of any variety instead of
throwing them away to help benefit others.
There
is a collection box at church just down the stairs on the right for the
donated glasses and aluminum pull tabs.
Masonic
Village:
Kathy, Liam & Ciara
McFeely
A group of adults and youth visit the residents of
Masonic Village periodically. Stay tuned for more information on future
visits at the Masonic Home! It will be announced during service and/or in
your weekly bulletin.
Vacationers With A
Purpose:
Arlene Siron
Annual mission trip to Lumberton, NC in October. More
information to come as we get closer to the date!
Bucks Back
Program:
Linda Vataha
We host the Bucks County Opportunity Council January
through April at our church. They provide a free tax preparation for low
income individuals and families. IRS-trained and certified volunteers
prepare and e-file tax returns while you wait.
Christ's Home for
Children:
Linda Vataha
